TERN 2011 Annual Symposium

The 2011 TERN Annual Symposium "Sustaining Long-Term Ecosystem Research and Infrastructure" will be held on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 March at The Treacy Centre 126 The Avenue, Parkville in Melbourne.

Ecosystem scientists, researchers and policymakers are invited to attend to discuss how TERN will enable the successful development of a sustainable and collaborative long-term ecosystem research network for Australia.

A copy of the program for the Symposium is available here.

The intended outcomes from the symposium are:

  • Constructive critical assessment of the proposed TERN Strategic Plan, its principles, mechanisms, funding sources and governance, and capacity to achieve a sustainable and collaborative long-term ecosystem research network for Australia.
  • To impart an understanding of the underlying principles of participating in TERN, and the capability it will provide through its facility portals and the Australian Ecosystems Portal.
  • Recognition that the funding and rewards system for ecosystem science and research in Australia needs to be changed to include publication, use and citation of a data set(s) as measures of research output and impact.

The Annual Symposium offers an excellent opportunity for you to network with your colleagues and to catch up with the latest on TERN’s facility, data management and linkage activities. This event also provides a forum for exploring what you can contribute to TERN, and how TERN can add value to your research.

The cost to attend the TERN Symposium is $110.00 (inc.GST) per person per day. The cost to attend the TERN Symposium Dinner is $65.00 (inc. GST) per person.

Should you wish to register your interest to attend, please complete the online application form by clicking here.

If you have any questions about the Symposium, please contact the TERN office telephone 07 3346 7021 or email tern@uq.edu.au.
